Askel Healthcare Ltd is a Finnish start-up focusing on medical devices for cartilage tissue regeneration. In RESTORE Askel is assisting other partners in the combination of nanomaterials into their COPLA® Scaffold, a medical device designed for cartilage repair.
Instituto Nacional de Engenharia Biomédica is a non-profit association with the statute of public interest that aims to generate knowledge, promoting research, advanced training and technology transfer. In RESTORE, INEB is project coordinator, being responsible for coordination and management activities, as well as to integrate the nanoenabled 3D matrix based on the COPLA® Scaffold.
The Institute of Biomedical and Neural Engineering (in Reykjavik University), aims to coordinate large-scale, multi-disciplinary research initiatives between universities, Hospital and Med-Tech companies. In RESTORE, we will build a database (clDB) of patient-specific anatomical models of different chondral lesions using patients’ 3D computed tomographies and MRIs, creating a benchmark for bioprinting design and implementation.
SINTEF is one of Europe’s largest independent research organisations. Every year we carry out several thousand projects for customers large and small.
Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SUH) is part of western region of Sweden (VGR-SUH) and one of six teaching hospitals with medical education in Sweden. The hospital carries out cutting edge research, improving healthcare through strong innovation and clinical research in close and broad cooperation with academia, industry and patients. VGR-SUH brings to RESTORE experience in rejuvenation of cells into stem cells, as well as the know-how and the facilities for 3D bioprinting of cartilage and is responsible for 3D bioprinting microtissues.
The Institute of Orthopaedic Research and Biomechanics at Ulm University Medical Centre investigates the musculoskeletal system. The joint biomechanics group focusses on the functional restoration after meniscus and cartilage lesions. In RESTORE we will biomechanically characterize cartilage scaffolds and are responsible for preclinical testing.
3DTech Oy is a Finnish SME specialized in 3D printing. We are developing our own 3D bioprinter, Brinter™, for the medical and pharmaceutical research and industry. In RESTORE, our role is to improve the performance of the cartilage bioprinting process by integrating novel features into our bioprinting platform.
