Meriem Lamghari graduated from the University of Paris 7, France with a PhD in Osteoarticular Biology, Biomechanics and Biomaterials. Currently, she is the leader of Neuro-skeletal circuits group at I3S – Institute of Health Innovation and Research and Associate Professor at the ICBAS- Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences. Meriem Lamghari is the coordinator of the H2020 RESTORE project (H2020) and also partner in the MSCA-ITN EU/H2020 “BonePainII” and the MSCA-ITN EU/H2020 “PREMUROSA”. She is an active member of European networks and established national and international collaborations that resulted in several papers and awards.

Graduated in Biology from Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, in 2000 and completed a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the ICBAS- Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar- of University of Porto, in 2009. She integrated the Neuro-Skeletal Circuits Group of i3S in 2010 as a postdoc researcher. Since then she has been devoted to the development of mechanistic insights into the crosstalk between the nervous system and skeleton, in skeletal pathological conditions. Recently, she became interested in the biological response to biomaterials in the context of osteoarticular disorders, and in the regulation of this response by the nervous system.
