Automated Indentation Mapping – appropriate tool to investigate whole joint surfaces

The nanoenabled COPLA® Scaffold should provide cartilage regeneration capacity. To demonstrate and validate its efficacy, the nanoenabled COPLA® Scaffold is finally applied to a functional large animal model, where it is implanted in the weight-bearing area of the femoral condyle. To approve the mechanical integrity of the cartilage after an implantation period of several months, UULM established the automated indentation mapping tool provided by the multiaxial testing machine of Biomomentum: MACH-1 (Biomomentum Inc., Canada). Using this it will be possible to investigate the biomechanical properties of while joint surfaces like the femoral condyle ex-vivo as it is exemplary depicted for a human tibial plateau and menisci (a and b, respectively).
